ATHENS, OH – State Representative Debbie Phillips (D-Athens) announced several key endorsements of her 2010 reelection campaign to continue representing the 92nd House District. State Representative Phillips is honored to have received endorsements from the League of Conservation Voters, the National Rifle Association, the Ohio Society of CPAs, the Ohio Farm Bureau, the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in Ohio, and the Ohio State Legislative Board of the United Transportation Union.
“I feel encouraged and energized by the support of these important organizations,” said Rep. Phillips. “The CPAs have made many thoughtful recommendations regarding the upcoming budget, and their endorsement process was thorough and helpful. And having the support of Ohio’s farmers, sportsmen, firefighters, hard-working men and women is very important to me. We need leaders in Columbus who are willing to fight for regular people, and I feel humbled by the support of these diverse organizations.”
These endorsements, in addition to those received earlier this summer, demonstrate the broad range of support Phillips is receiving for her reelection campaign. Local and statewide organizations representing a variety of constituencies and issues are supporting Phillips due to her attention to and dedicated work on issues that affect the people she represents, as well as her willingness to bypass political partisanship in order to produce effective results.
Earlier this month the Ohio League of Conservation Voters (Ohio LCV) announced their support and endorsement of Representative Debbie Phillips. The Ohio LCV is a bi-partisan non-profit environmental and conservation organization. The Ohio LCV Board is composed of statewide leaders and includes active members of both the Democratic and Republican parties. “Debbie Phillips is a thoughtful, knowledgeable and independent thinker. She will be important in helping Ohio find its way back to prosperity while keeping our fields, forests, air and waters healthy and clean”, said Jim McGregor, Executive Director of the League.
Earlier this year State Representative Debbie Phillips received endorsements from the Ohio Nurses Association, Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio Education Association (OEA), the Ohio Federation of Teachers (OFA), the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE), the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the Service Employees International Union 1199 (SEIU 1199), Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA), and Ohio AFSCME Council 8, and the Ohio AFL-CIO (which includes local Boilermakers, Electrical Workers, Carpenters, Bricklayers, Sheet Metal Workers and more) among others.
